About Me

Organization is a Journey…

Helping people simplify their lives with organizing is a career I never imagined, especially since I was not exactly what you call “organized” myself.  Getting to where I am in my life today was a journey.

My Background

With a degree in fashion from the University of Bridgeport, CT—and a chance meeting on a bus with the operations director for Barneys New York—I landed a job as a personal shopper, working exclusively with costume designers and stylists for the entertainment industry.

While remaining in the creative field, I then transitioned my career into the stock photography industry, negotiating image rights for large financial companies and advertising agencies.

My life-changing moment came in 2006, while hospitalized for nine days with life-threatening salmonella sepsis(blood poisoning). Something in me had profoundly changed, and suddenly I knew I needed to continue my life on a different road. I took some time off to recuperate and ponder my next career step.

At that point, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. I was certain I would have my own company and I created the name “Simply Staci,” and that was it.  And I knew I was passionate about organizing; in fact, I was always showing off my latest organizing solutions and product finds to my friends. I began researching fabulous items that weren’t sold in mass chain stores and using them to organize my closets and apartment. People were always asking me, “Where did you get that?” I told them, “Hey, I do my homework!”

Then it clicked, and I thought, “I could do this for other people!” I realized I could use my self-taught skills to help others bring a sense of peace and balance to their lives—as a professional organizer.  After all, I’m a “people person” at heart, well-grounded, non-judgmental and patient. This career seemed like a perfect fit.  And thus Simply Staci the company was born, this time with a purpose behind the name.

Was I Always Organized?

In a word: no. In fact, I was a master of losing track of things. My money always seemed to be in a jeans pocket somewhere. I was perpetually looking for my keys in one of my jackets, which in college my friends nicknamed my “filing cabinet.”

As I got older, somehow I managed to always have a bunch of papers that I “needed to go through.”  The papers were in a neat stack, but I had to search the entire pile every time I needed something.  I was very stressed out and it caused me much anxiety.  I needed a system, and one that worked for me.Then, one day I said “Enough!” and I made the decision to simplify my life.

My journey from chaos to calm was years-long, filled with trial and error, but I got there. Bringing order to my home and my daily routine gave me a feeling of well-being that I hadn’t experienced before. I felt better emotionally and physically. I was saving loads of time. I could think more clearly and had less anxiety in general.

Why Hire Me?

I firmly believe that everyone has the ability to be organized—but most people just don’t know how or even where to start. Some have tried with the best of intentions, buying products and how-to books they thought might help, but became quickly overwhelmed and gave up. Why? Because no one taught them a system that was right for them. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to organizing. Everyone is different.

One of my favorite quotes—and the driving philosophy behind Simply Staci—is by the Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu:  “Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and he eats for a lifetime.”  I love that bit of wisdom because there’s so much truth to it. When people know better, they do better.  I’ll teach you simple tips and strategies you can incorporate into your everyday life. Once you do, you’ll be well on your way to less stress, less mess and a sense of clarity and serenity that you never thought you could achieve.

And unlike most “Type A” organizers, I truly understand your struggle, because I have been in your shoes. I transformed my life completely and couldn’t be happier today. So now I am paying it forward and helping others lead easier and more balanced lives.

Are You Ready to Begin Your Journey?

Making the decision to organize your home, your office and your world can be a little scary. It takes tremendous courage to take that first step.  But trust me—it will change your life for the better. Are you ready?  Have you reached that point of “Enough is enough”?
